Prospects Vs Veterans - II

Sulzeer Jeremiah Campbell better known as sol Campbell, scored the opening goal for Arsenal against Barcelona that would have been a dream return for him in the arsenal squad hadn’t they lost in the finals. Sol Campbell always wished to play in Europe which lead to a controversial switch to arsenal back there in 2001-02 (Bosman Ruling), Ever since, he has been labeled "Judas" by Spurs supporters. Campbell was the linchpin in the arsenal defense and played a vital part in their premier league glory.

Sol Campbell Strangely began his career as a striker but, played in every defensive position in Tottenham before settling as a central defender. The Mighty defender was highly affected by injuries and poor form in the season 2005-06 which paved a move to Portsmouth, which was quite unlikely as rumors were around that he may switch to Fenerbahce or Marseille. His presence in the Harry Redknapp squad provided a solid foundation to the Portsmouth defense which led to impressive standing in the premier league.

Both Micah and Sol represented their country at a young age with Campbell debuting against hungry back in 1996 and Micah in 2006 against a friendly against Netherlands, making him the youngest defender ever to be called up to the England squad. The young lad is currently the favorite as a right-back in English squad and will surely give a fight to Gary when he will come back from his long injury layoff.

It’s not very likely that someone is evaluated worth 15+ Pounds by top clubs at an age of eighteen and Micah is one of them with Chelsea and other major club in line to snatch the teenager away from Man City. Rumors were there that Sir Alex wants him as a long term replacement for Gary Neville. Micah Richards who was better seen as a right back in his earlier days at Man City is now a regular feature alongside Richard Dunne back in the centre of City defense. Excluding the recent blow to Man City who were hammered by Chelsea, with a six nil away defeat Micah alongside Dunne was doing his job perfectly fine leading the Citizens to sit at the top of the premier league table. The teenage sensation fancies taking the skipper role and wish to play in arsenal someday

Soccer in the Atacama Desert

While hovering through various blog post on soccer, I luckily halted on a really nice blog, posted on culture of soccer, the write up depicts the scenario of soccer in Chile with some amazing snaps.

"While traveling in the Atacama Desert, the driest place on earth, he came across a couple soccer fields, one of which had a game going on at the time. The scenery was striking...
Right alongside the road was this soccer field with wooden goals and chalked out lines, missing only nets"

"The town’s girls soccer team had a game against a rival from a nearby town. It’s not entirely evident in the photos, but it seemed as if at least half the town was out to watch the game. Toconao had crisp, clean, matching uniforms, not to mention nets on their goals while their opponents just had matching jerseys and many played in pants instead of shorts. Toconao was winning 1-0 when we left.”

Partizan Prodigy - Stevan Jovetic

While i was working on the veterans vs prospect blog, putting a in depth info about this prodigy struck my mind the belgrade teenage sensation was there in the news when Manutd approached the FK Partizan for a shock move with a seven million pound evaluation. Jovetic who made his full senior debut for Montenegro in a friendly against Hungary, has banged 18 goals in 54 games for Partizan, he scored three goals in a UEFA Cup qualifying game against Zrinjski in a 5-0 victory for Partizan, making it his first hat-trick in his career at an age of seventeen, the impressive performance by the lad at such a young age made situation rife for him which eventually lead to offers for a switch from top clubs across europe linking him to Manchester United , Manchester City, Spanish giants Real Madrid, and Italian club Sampdoria, with Ajax, AZ Alkmaar, Heerenven seemingly in the queue. The young gun showed loyalty to his club respecting his contract with Partizan which he signed 2-3 months ago, although he had an offer from Koeln, and other European clubs, with hefty pay package’s i.e. more money than what Partizan is currently paying him. With Manutd up with an offer of seven million pounds which seems a bit little when compared to what the devils paid for Nani and Anderson, made United to wait till summer to crack open a negotiation, and its likely by that time other clubs too will be in a contention to challenge United with their price tag. Check Micah and Sol face to face in the upcoming blog, till enjoy the fantastic finish by the partizan wunderkid.

Kasper Schmeichel

Kasper Schmeichel recently completed a one month loan deal to join Championship side Cardiff City, prior his move to coventry was obstructed as the negotiations between the clubs failed to take place. Kasper was impressive in his loan spell at falkirk, and a recent trail of impressive performance made bluebirds to sign him on a one month loan deal following their recent 3-1 defeat.more

Peter Schmeichel played for Man city at the death of his career, all thanks to an injury to Isaksson which paved the path for his son Kasper to make his dream debut with Man city, Kasper proved that things will come big for him by his fantastic agility on the goal post and thus making a dream start with three clean sheets in straight matches. The stopper played a pivotal part in the City win against Manutd and with a penalty save against Van perise in the fourth, would have made him ruddy hadn’t he conceded that mighty blow from Cesc Fabregas at the near post, the first seven games with city were surely crucial for him and he handled them brilliantly and thus becoming the first choice stopper for city gaffer.

On the other side Van Der Sar started the season with some terrific display; three penalties saves against Chelsea and then a series of clean sheets cleared the intension of "Edwin". Van Der Sar is the only non-Italian who pierced the position of stopper in juve which was taken away from him by Buffon after he arrived from Lazio and 32 million pounds was quite a bargain for the Lazio stopper. After moving to Fulham from juve, "Edwin" rejected a move to Old Trafford in 2005 later he agreed and joined united in their far east campaign, the penalty save against Mancity must be the limelight of his career the win made Manutd champions of 06/07. By the time Peter Schmeichel was out from Manutd an acute crisis for a stopper was felt at OT, one can lose count as how many stopper Manutd tried till Van der sar arrived, and ever since he is rock solid out there with Manutd Gaffer trying to add one more year in his contract.More on VDS

Prospects Vs Veterans

It’s been 97 games 510 goals scored with 18 sending offs and 337 caution, from breathtaking saves to stunning goals premiership as got it all. With teams fighting to reach on to the top of the ladder and seemingly investing heavily on players, thanks to some hefty influx of money, making Man city, Manutd, and Liverpool on top of the spending spree, but eventually it’s the sneaky arsenal who has managed to take the things by storm rejoicing a top spot in the league. The whole things end’s up on the fact that some strategies work some backfires poor Martin Jol was forced to leave after making his life difficult at white hart lane on the other side there was Mourinho but this time it was the chemistry that didn’t work, differences of opinions made the Porto champ to leave the Stamford Bridge, Like I said some strategies work some don’t and what we see here it’s the patience of Wenger with his kids that paid off, but it’s too early to predict anything.

The premiere league has got the blend of young guns and the veterans with young lads firing on wings and on the other side we got the veterans commanding, stamping authority in their position. So what we have here eight lads four of them have proved their mettle in the game and still have the rigor of carrying it on, and on the other side four lads fresh from the nursery and raring to go.

I picked these lads by commemorating on their age, recent form and their past performance.
